Prof. Xiulan Zhang, MD, PhD, glaucoma specialist, is a professor of Ophthalmology, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China. She has been deliciated to clinical practice, teaching, and research of ophthalmology for 33 years. She was nominated for Top 50 Expertise in Glaucoma Worldwide in Expertscape from 2020 to 2022. She was listed as one of the Top 100 most influential in ophthalmology in the Ophthalmologist Power List in 2014. She serves as a nominated active member of the Glaucoma Research Society (GRS), a fellow of the Academy of Asia-Pacific Professor of Ophthalmology (AAPPO), a board member of the Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Society (APGS), and Asia Angle-Closure Glaucoma Club (AACGC), and an executive board member of the Asia-Pacific Ocular Imaging Society (APOIS). She also served as the Convener of the Glaucoma Scientific Program of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress in 2018 and 2019. Prof. Zhang has published over 250 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including 92 publications in Chinese medical journals and 162 SCI articles, with cite index of 3992 in Google Scholar, and H-index of 40. As the Principal Investigator, she has received 33 scientific grants, one of which from the National Key R & D Project and six from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Prof. Zhang was awarded the Distinguished Service Award of APAO in 2021, the Prestigious Achievement Award of Ophthalmic Image Analysis in 2019, the Honorary Awarded of the Afro-Asian Council of Ophthalmology in 2018, and the Achievement Award of APAO in 2017. She is also awarded the“People of the Year” of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center in 2022. She has received the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award (2009), the National Science and Technology Progress Award (2010), the Research Achievement Award of the Health Department of Guangdong Province (2018), and her team project was nominated as Top 10 Advances in Ophthalmology (2021). Prof. Zhang has published four self-authored books by People’s Medical Publishing House: Illustrated clinical diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma (2014), Illustrated surgical techniques and pearls of glaucoma (2016), Illustrated anterior segment examinations and diagnosis of glaucoma (2020), and Illustrated Surgical Techniques and Pearls of MIGS (2022), and three translated books by People’s Medical Publishing House: Childhood Glaucoma (2015), Diagnosis of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (2019), and The Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Guideline (2020). She also organized, edited, and published ten books of translated versions of the World Glaucoma Association(WGA) Consensus Series. She is also the Co-founder of the well-known annotated public ocular database — iChallenge. Up to now, she has given invited lectures 698 times domestic and overseas. She has supervised 34 master's and doctoral students.
